The Academic year
The Academic Year is divided into (i) the Fall Semester, (ii) the Spring Semester and (iii) the Summer Program. It begins on August 1st and runs through December 31st. The Spring Semester begins on Jan 2nd and runs through May 31st. The Summer Program includes private lessons and summer camps during the month of June and July.
All private lesson students enroll in 19 lessons per semester. Students starting midway through the semester will enroll for the remaining number of weeks in the semester, as shown in the Calendar. No refund or credit for absence. Please refer to the Makeup policy below.

Instruments and materials

Arts class: A class will open at a minimum of 4 students. Students will prepare their own art material.
Snow/Inclement Weather Policy
The Academy will follow its own schedule of closing for inclement weather. Announcement of closing will be updated on The Academy’s website, announced via email immediately in the event of inclement weather. The Academy guarantees one make-up lesson if lessons are canceled due to weather conditions. No refunds will be issued.
Absences / Makeup Lessons
Missed Private Lessons (student Absences):
Notify the teacher of at least twenty four (24) hours in advance entitles the student to a makeup lesson. No show is considered a forfeited lesson. No refunds will be issued. For Art classes, all missed classes can be made up within 2 weeks at any of our available classes.
Missed Private Lessons (Teacher Absences):
Should a teacher miss a lesson due to any circumstance, that lesson will be made up at a time which is mutually convenient with the student and teacher. Teachers may arrange for a substitute teacher. The Academy will attempt to notify students prior to substitute lessons. No refunds will be issued.
Arrival and Pick up time
Students must arrive on time for class. Students arriving late to a lesson are only entitled to the time remaining in the lesson slot. All students must be picked up promptly. Faculty and staff are not responsible for supervising students outside of designated teaching time. Once a student enters The Academy, he/she must remain inside The Academy until his/her transportation arrives.
Termination of lesson
If a student and/or parent should decide to terminate lessons at any given time during the year, the academy requires a ONE MONTH WRITTEN NOTICE.
All students and their siblings are expected to be on their best behavior while at The Academy. They are expected to treat each other, parents, faculty, and staff with respect and to refrain from playing in the halls or bathrooms, running, and/or being loud enough as to interrupt lessons and the Academy business. Students who are disruptive will be reprimanded, and parents will be notified. We reserve the right to terminate, without refund, the lessons of any student who is disruptive to others at The Academy.
Practice and parental support
A parent may observe lessons at the instructor’s discretion. Students whose parents take an interest in their child’s progress tend to be more enthusiastic and productive. With commitment to learn music comes the decision to practice on a daily basis. Practice time will vary according to teacher assignments and student level. Younger children especially need help with their practicing. Our instructors will always be there for your child for any reason. We would appreciate your feedback with your instructor.
