About the Instructor
Benjamin Teoh
Dr. Teoh is a pure mathematician by training. He obtained his PhD in Mathematical Logic in 2018. Prior to coming to America, he held an assistant professorship for close to three years and 2 years of experience in math lectureship. He had many years of math tutoring experience. Dr. Teoh Believes that thinking is the most important part of learning; he leaves open questions for students to think. He loves to teach and talk about math, science, and technology with people.
His interest in math, science, and engineering began when he was little. For instance, he was pondering about buoyancy and gravity before he attended elementary school. In high school, he wanted to do theoretical physics as a career. When he started my first semester in college, it was clear to him that his way of thinking was more mathematical in nature, so he switched to pure mathematics.
Regardless of his choice in major, he continued to enjoy physics and engineering. When edX, the popular massive open online course platform, came into prominence, he took the opportunity to take courses that he would otherwise
have not had the chance to take. For example, he took the Aerodynamics series offered by MIT and scored 94% and above on both courses, Intro to Aerodynamics and Flight Vehicle Aerodynamics. His hobbies include aviation and photography. He is a certified Microsoft Flight Simulator pilot holding a Commercial Pilot rating. He has also been a member of the Malaysian Mensa Society since 2000.
